Workflow Manager

The Tartan Solutions Workflow Manager grew out of a need to manage global complex financial closing processes consisting of key inputs and validations by multiple organizations.

The Workflow Manager honors all dependencies in the workflow and allows for re-entering previous parts of the workflow if downstream failures occur. It allows for multiple termination points and can model extremely large and complex processes. It uses a Petri network to manage the current state of the overall workflow and the tasks active within it.

If is often desirable to track multiple workflows simultaneously under an umbrella such as multiple financial organizations under a single monthly closing. The Workflow Manager allows the grouping of workflows into campaigns. One of the advantages of campaigns is the ability to manage common tasks from a single sign-off.

Many processes rely on shared spreadsheets and/or a blast of emails to a distribution list to inform the participants of the current state. As the process becomes more complex and the number of participants grows, emails and spreadsheets can begin to create information overload. Information overload leads to confusion. This is why the Workflow Manager tailors emails to each recipient depending on the frequency of notification desired, the workflows they are involved in, and their roles in those workflows. This way each participant receives exactly the information they need when they need it. Of course, the current state of the workflow or campaign is always available through the Workflow Manager too.

Tasks within the workflow can be triggered manually, automatically based on a system, time based, or date based. Automatic triggering is enabled from system messages, database queries, file parsing, or any other system level action that can be read.

The Workflow Manager is completely web based and requires no software installations on the client computers. It is ready for immediate use and is scalable to meet your most demanding workflow needs.
